this may have been discussed before, but i am going to discuss this again. i do find an urgent need to have a log on/off feature & auto-reconnect feature embedded into SL. some of us stay logged on to SL 24/7 and have RL jobs which means we are not at the computer to relog should the connection get lost or the sim/region restarts. i for one would find it so much more convienent to have these features embedded simply for the reason that i open and position certain windows (RenderFarClip, LagMeter, etc) in areas of the screen that i use and alot of those windows dont re-appear when restarting the client, its really annoying to have to re-check and reset settings in the client debug menu and having to re-position those windows where i had them previously. in addition, the time it takes for the client to load up, connect and download inventory, clothing, etc. like the other post i made (sound spamming), i doubt my request would be granted as i have heard that other users are against this idea. for now, my quick way around this is to keep another instance of SL open and ready to connect should i lose my connection of the sim/region restarts. thanks for reading.

At the risk of being incredibly nosy, what are you doing that requires you be logged in 24/7 with the downtime of a few minutes being catastrophic? [EDIT]: nevermind, I searched with the new web based search (wow I love it.) The blurb in your profile spoke volumes: "This avatar is available for traffic, low pay $1 every 60 minutes."

well yes. since i operate a small RL business during most of the day and week, i figure i could at least have my avatar help out a SL business with standby traffic, and ill get something for the time, even if its very little.

i agree about a log on/off feature
and for your camping, your probably wasting more money on your power bill, and traffic means about as much as grains of sand on a beach ... very few ppl actually care

From: Osgeld Barmy and for your camping, your probably wasting more money on your power bill, Actually, I proved otherwise. At a powerbill of $80/mo. (including refridgerator, lights, etc.) I had 4 to 6 accounts logged in at any one time, each making $1/day. 4 * 30 = $120/mo.

How about logging off instead of selfishly hogging resources for an avie that isn't doing anything useful? If everyone felt the overwhelming need to leave their avie logged on 24/7 SL would be unusable for anyone.

besides it reduces your carbon footprint (sorry laughing at myself for saying that last one) I broke the machine a month or two ago and since fixing it I haven't had the motivation to run it 24-7 making a couple bucks. I like to do things with my beefy machine (now using a 550 watt PS), like, you know, Play HL2 or Portal, or SupCom, or World in Conclict. I didn't have these games (or any others worth playing) 6 months ago.

From: Osgeld Barmy besides it reduces your carbon footprint (sorry laughing at myself for saying that last one) The slow and systematic destruction of the entire planet (which I remind you you are currently living on) shouldn't be a laughing matter. No matter how small the saving switching off your computer may make, it's still a saving. Personally I find the whole camping/traffic gaming affair disgusting. But what I find more disgusting is LL's willful negligence in allowing it to continue; well done, we have over 10 million accounts, big whoop. 10 million is a perfectly good number, how about now we get rid of the bots who don't actually make any money and just ruin things for others? Hell, the new search feature has every chance of making it worse, giving us not just camping farms but also millions more inactive accounts who log-in once just to link a store to their profile.
