How bout - adding a multiuser bitmap editor ( i.e. a paint program ) that would occupy a portion of the screen and would change textures inworld in as realtime a way as feasible. Folks would be able to set a face to "public edit" or "group edit" or 'friends edit" mode or give texture edit permission on an avatar by avatar basis. Whatever restrictions are needed to make it technically feasible would be applied.
Goal: fun. No attempt to provide a fancy paint program to replace Photoshop is suggested.
(Note, this idea isn't really a feature suggestion for SL, it's really a wish there was a shared canvas world, multiple multi-user painting surfaces in a 3D context, with the shared canvases displayed either somewhat like painting or on the surfaces of objects, with avatars. I could see a pure 2D version of this being fun too. I've seen whiteboards but I don't think I've seen ones that have the kind of permissions control that is needed to make the idea work well. I don't think I've seen a site that has multiple group editable whiteboards viewable at one time.

I'm stopped in front of a store with a very conventional grid of textures, each texture applied to one face of a prim like a picture on a piece of paper.
Supposing one had such a grid of textures, and each texture-face had an online mutiuser whiteboard associated with it. Some whiteboards might be totally public, some might be sl members only, others might be limited to membership in a group or by personal invitation only.
Instead of a static grid of textures like I see in front of me, there'd be a changing grid of textures, some silly, some vulgar, some serious, possibly in various stages of completion.
Someone or someones with server space and the knowhow, like Cristiano Midnight, or the Electric Sheep Company, for example, could run the whiteboards. A libsecondlife bot client could handle uploading the textures. Bot code or LSL scripts could apply the uploaded textures to the faces.
Might be interesting. I don't think I've seen anything quite like that in SL.

hmm, if the drawing surface would fit in the web tab....
why the heck won't they give us the mozilla browser?
