Well, maby the title isnt the best, but heres the idea.
Give players the ability to upload their own skins for the interface, as well as code a new interface for players to buy and use, this could really make sl play as a completly different game (example, make a gui with a health bar, mana bar, experiance bar, an experiance script, and an inventory, and presto! everlife!)
I really think this would help second life grow, as well as give players the chance to get ride of those ugly green bars :/

I have heard rumors (good ones!) that customization of the UI will be something in the future that will be something to behold. Imagine getting a permissions request window for a UI change and suddenly being in HUD mode of a plane you just sat in, or getting your health bar and mana and xp bar all tied to scripts of the weapon you just attached. Yes this is definatly a great feature, and I of course fully support it. I also, though, want it done right. And doing things right takes time. I would imagine this to come sometime after 1.2 (1.2 is a major UI change if I recall correctly). I would imaging the change to the UI for 1.2 will be built around future support of such a system. Thats me imagining though, ya never know. - Ama

I get the feeling that 1.2 changes will be like 1.1 changes times a thousand.

From: someone Originally posted by Ryen Jade Well, maby the title isnt the best, but heres the idea. Exactly what are you trying to say??? (see my post titled "Enter = OK in a dialog?" lol As far as your UI idea all I have to say is "w00t". But I wouldn't expect it in the too immediate future. Then again it's better to wait awhile than have it be done buggy or something.

How about the general ability to attach prims to the screen? Then you can "build" your own scripted GUI components.

Hate to shoot down a creative suggestion but that seems (to me) like it'd be a little difficult on the creators..and overall inferior to actually adding a few new GUI components. Probably better to try and get something like this added down the road, as part of the real gui IMO.

definite long-term (post 1.2) goal is to keep increasing the ability for Residents to customize their UI. Short-term we're doing lots of work to improve current UI. As discussed in the posts above, some of the changes will be in 1.1 but the majority of UI revisions are in 1.2.

Ooo, interesting.
As far as "attaching" a UI, I don't think we know how hard that kind of thing is until it's been attempted. (Unless it has been done, in which case nevermind.)

From: someone Originally posted by Ryen Jade (but i really would love to see the darkwood community make an everquest of sorts ) Gah!! Why make an Everquest when you can make a Dark Age of Camelot But, I'd love to see this too. At one time I even started jotting down some notes on implementing 'classes' of sorts using attachments in the current SL. Simple classes like Shielder, Shooter, ButtonPusher, Healer, etc. Edit: (The simple balance I was going for was: imagine two team have to get their buttonpusher to the enemys button and push it to win. To do this you have your offense guys, defense guys, and guys to heal)

Really, i was thinking about classes for my store( ff inc) such as agents (kill the footstep sound, make them invisable for about 30 seconds when a command is executed) Soldier (armor makes bullets do 20% less damage [no more 1 hit kills!]) and a medic (can only use pistols [this will only be for my weapons, mind you] can heal a player if player is harmed)
Also, on the damage note, lindens, why not a command llSetHeal([Heal percentage]) and also eliminate the health that moves up rather quickly (or decrease it greatly) This would add a a new job (docter, yay!) and would make for more realistic battles.

I was planning to not use SL health and make my own health simply becasue SL health doesnt act as I like it. An aattachment can monitor 'health' and react to heals and hits, and display a floating prim over the AVs head so that healers can see who to heal.
Once you 'die' the attachment would deliver a single massive hit to the AV, killing him SL style.
