Nation Specific Billing

I think that most SL members would appreciate having national billing locations to ease cost and transaction problems.

Right now, my billing comes from the UK even though I am a US citizen and Linden Labs is a US Company. The result, I am hit with an additional fee of 1-2% for every transaction. That is not much for the $12/month fee -- but for an auction purchase of $3000, we are looking at $60 in an unnecessary charge.

Further, this charge often hits me more than once because, for some reason, the LL UK billing is never able to do the transaction in a single go. It runs, is reversed as "not accepted" by Linden Labs; runs again, returns again; finally runs completely. With three tries -- this can mean an additional $180 in unnecessary fees. These fees add up and will eventually suppress membership and sales by alienating people who feel the bite.

Something must give here.

Could you avoid the fee by using Paypal?

Actually, I do use paypal -- and it is the paypal fees I am talking about. As far as I know, auctions cannot be paid for using the paypal billing agreement that applies to ordinary fees. I use my Paypal debit card for auction payments -- and Linden Labs never processes it appropriately, and processes it in the UK.

It is really insane that Linden billing is not truly paypal compatible.
