[REPOSTED: FORMER TITLE: A brief review of the Efficacy of the Current Community Vote System in Second Life. ]

Since the January 1st, 2007, Second Life residents have submitted a total of 646 proposals via the Community Voting system (http://secondlife.com/vote/). Of those proposals, the following six have been marked in some way by LL:

Prop: 2650 - Weather Request Added: 2007-01-04
--This feature is acknowledged for development by Linden.
Prop: 2778 - Remove the Downgrade Fee Added: 2007-01-26
--This feature request has been marked 'can't do' by Linden.
Prop: 2783 - Stop automated land buying in SL Added: 2007-01-28
--This feature is acknowledged for development by Linden.
Prop: 2833 - First Land Given Upon Upgrade to Premium Account Added: 2007-02-07
--This feature is acknowledged for development by Linden.
Prop: 2859 - Restrict sales of First Land to discourage speculation Added: 2007-02-13
--This feature request has been marked 'can't do' by Linden.
Prop: 3192 - FIRST LAND (CLAP CLAP CLAP) FIRST LAND (CLAP CLAP CLAP) Added: 2007-04-17
--This feature is acknowledged for development by Linden.

This represents an acknowledgement rate by LL of approximately 0.92%.

The abandonment rate of the last 100 proposals is 4% (abandoned proposals are those for which the Original Proponent has withdrawn their vote(s), and for which no other votes had been applied). Taking into account the estimated abandonment rate improves the the acknowledgement rate by LL to approximately 0.97%

Given an acknowledgement rate of under one percent of all proposals submitted Year-To-Date, it's curious that the Community Voting System continues to be accessible at all from the the Second Life website. Isn't it time to shut it down, or at list disable new entries? That will help increase utilization of Jira as well.

I believe the Jira is still considered to be in 'beta', but it has been getting a LOT more Linden attention with a high percentage being responded to and dealt with. I've noticed a lot of references to VWR-this and SVC-that being in various updates, referring to Jira items that were resolved. LL have been doing fairly well at tackling bugs that get posted there and have a decent description to help them get tracked down.

I've stopped using the community voting tool entirely.
