After first seeing the object beacon feature implimented into SL, I thought, 'Whoa cool! I'll finally be able to build things and not worry about imputting a bad value into the edit window,' 'Wow! Finally, I'll be able to find my lost _insert object here_ I lost from my newb days!' and 'YAY! I'll be able to minimize my taxes now, thanks to the newfound ability to look for lost objects.'

Boy, was I wrong!

It turned out that the object beacon feature was unintelligant. It didnt care if objects it displayed were the player's or not; when I turned it on, my screen was filled with a horde of red, yellow and orange lines.

I propose that this part of SL be revamped. It needs to only display identifyers for objects that are owned by the player, what do I care if my neghbor uses a scripted prim for her lamp?

Some may say that sensors are the way to go. But because of the 16 object, 96 meter limitation, its not really feasable to use one to find say a cube at 300 meters (a hefty tax).

[/rant] :D

This isn't really a new feature. :P

It would be nice if it had more options but the way it is now is important. It helps you find invisible items, even if they don't belong to you. So if someone sticks a smoke generator on your property that is only .01 meters across and 95% cut, you can find it.
