i will like to comment on proposition 3319 which will make objects in the sand box self delete if the owner leaves the sand box. this would prevent griefers leaving harassing or other such objects and running away.
i am in support of this proposition except for one flaw. any one who has worked in any of the big sim sand boxes for any amount of time knows that this sims simply just dies from time to time. I do not mean the so called 'wipes' that wipes nothing at all but the sim crashes and you get this wonderful message...'you have been logged out of second life...the simulator you are in is going down...etc. etc.' normaly you swear a little, wait a bit and get back on to second life and go back and continue your work. no damage.
under this proposition 3319, you would just be out of luck when the sim burps you off. you left the sim. your project is erased. and you just have to get clean underpants and deal with it.
but of course maybe it is not a problem since we all save our work often, no ?....eh...hmmmm ? any way just my thoughts.

I also think that it's a great idea to have the sandboxes delete somebodies stuff if they've left the sandbox. Preferably 10 minutes after. Otherwise people may get pushed out of the sandbox by a big meanie griefer!. Arrrgh! Not good!
But you can get around the sandbox crashing problem by simply having the sandbox reset everybodies absence time to 10 minutes when it starts back up. This way people will get time to go for a pee, then comeback and claim their stuff.
I sometimes wonder if sandboxes are no longer seen as a positive influence on LL's profit margins. I doubt this is the case though. I think LL are wise enough to realize that sandboxes help to welcome people to SL, and even the builders that never buy land still contribute to the economy by selling the items they've made. So I suspect the real reason is that they just don't have a coder available with the necessary knowledge to fiddle with the server code without breaking it. The coders with the necessary experience will be working on things that are considered more important.
I must say though, it's kind of sad that they may have to implement this feature. When I was new, I thought it was pretty cool to have stuff remain in the sandbox after I'd left. I may never have stayed in SL for so long if it wasn't for the encouragement that I'd received from the folks that saw the stuff I'd left behind in the sandbox.
Oh well...

well the sand boxes are a excellent place to display your abilities as a builder. I too have built things and left them on display. not twenty copys in EVERY sand box either.just one in one sand box. but there is a difference in that and what is going on now with constant flooding of offensive objects, noise makers, followers, and generaly a lot of harassment. it seems if it is some kind of honor to crash the sand box or render it useless. it is beyond me what they think they are proving here with this sort of actions.
also if residents will just use common courtesy and pick up after there selves it would eliminate half of the problem. but it is some thing that is never going to end. i actualy think they will close this sand boxes down before they have to fix it. i hope not, but it will not suprise me.

I strongly prefer sensible time limits for auto return. Lost of connection is frustrating enough without a project Wipe being an added feature... Also, this proposed feature would make some group projects and builds practically impossible.
