We need a first person view that is not mouse look because I hate the way mouselook disables my cursor and removes my inventory and stuff, and the navigation is totally awkward. It would certainly add to the immersive feeling of the Second Life experience if we had a decent first person view, in addition to mouselook (which has its uses, i suppose).

I agree, I find mouse look needlessly unpleasant

In mouse look, all the keyboard shortcuts still work. Hit enter to pop the chatbar open, and set in your preferences to pop it closed after the end of a line of text and it'll go away automatically as well.

I agree that a first person feature will greatly enhance the Second Life experience. I also agree that mouselook is annoying and certainly not the same effect as a true first person moce.

Then how should it work? It's all very well to complain about things that aren't right in the current mouselook, but how could it be done differently? For first-person mode having it follow your mouse makes most sense, so how do we overcome this? Hold alt/option to temporarily show a cursor? Feature suggestions really should be more than just saying it needs work

I think the request is for a mode where the view is the same as mouselook, but the controls are the same as the normal mode (i.e, normal camera controls rather than pointing using the mouse).
