Try to wrap your mind around this one... put yourself down with the goblins in the Underworld. Here's how it'd work! The Lindens allow objects down to z=-30. The Lindens make a non-editable floor at z=-25. The Lindens allow land ownership on the floor. The Lindens simply 'pop' a dozen or so holes in the terrain. Once people uncovered a few holes, we would have a world of darkness - no days, no nights. Just darkness. No problems with giant stoopid billboards or slot machines. Just a maze of alleys and lights. And it would build up a really kewl tension between the walking under-worlders and flying top-siders! Moreover, we'd have more land to develop without having to have more servers. I would certainly pursue a contract to install an underground bullet train We'd have dwarven cities in a land of eternal night BTW, thanks to Americana for the inspiration

OOH!! I love to live in a place like this (in my SL of course). The problem is: when I asked for tunnels a long while ago, I believe a linden replied that it wasnt possible with how land works currently. An underground city *would* be really cool tho.

Can always do this by lowering land to an extreme extent above the waterline, then building a mountain above it...
I have a feeling the way the ground/water system works would not allow for this.
