Ok, The recent Release of sculpting actually made me think of this more.
The thing is, currently, people are able to screen capture a texture of anything (including sculpties) that they own, by going to the prim settings and just capturing/cropping pictures they see. even if they never created it. This wasn't earlier a problem since textures are low res when copied (when the real textures are high res), but now with sculpties people can EASILY grab them and replicate. (they are after all, low res, 64x64).

I want to suggest a Feature which Watermarks the Textures so that they cannot be directly copied, For example a big "Second Life Logo" or a big transparent " (C) " into the middle, or small ones everywhere onto the preview texture. If they are not the creator of the object. or. By the least, disable anyone from even reading what sorta sculptie texture is on the object if they do not have a mod right on it.

I believe that the object tab that shows that is greyed out and does not even indicate that it's a sculpie (i.e. just as a normal prim's properties are greyed out, the sculpie grey-out looks the same) if the prim is no-mod. Try it on a prim you don't own to see what I mean. Though we should test the "I own it, but don't have mod rights" aspect just to make sure.

I tested through some simple sculpties, I had a object that i didn't make with no perms on it, except I had it in my inventory. When i looked at the Advanced Tab, i still could see the item.

UPDATE: It actually seems they completely grayed it out. For a while there, a few days back, i could see the sculptie textures if i didn't have perms. but if you have mod perms you can see the sculptie texture.

But anyway, there still should be a watermark feature that overlays the preview texture since I'm sure lot of avatar/clothing makers would want to have a mod perm in them so that players may resize their attachments.

That, I agreed. I actually don't see much point in showing it at all. Is not likely any human would be able to decipher a sculpt shape from the texture. What's the point in showing it anyway???
