Im not sure where else to post this, but a friend of mine bought land on a privet sim, she paid 45000 L for it, plus a teir on top of that, after two weeks on the land getting it set up how they wanted it bought a house and so on, they came online to find there things returned to them, the person that sold them the land and owned the sim the land was on decided to reclaim it, said he was reconstructing it, or something to that effect,
I can understand a sim owner wanting to make changes but i dont think they should have right to reclaim land they already sold or have any right to do anything to it, if they want the changes done that badly to the over all sim, they should have to go thro the new land owner to do it after all they paid for it and should have the same rights as anyone that bought land anyplace else.
he should have no more right to it then i do to a outfit i have already sold, when i sell a dress i cant take it back because, i dont like the shoes they insist on wearing with it, no matter how bad it looks,
isnt there someway to protect buyers, to set the land up when you sell it that it cant be reclaimed ?

I think there shouldn't be a "sell" button on islands, period. It's not selling, it's leasing from the island owner, and the island owner has the right to reclaim it at any time for any reason. I'm sorry, but your friend never owned that lot in the eyes of Linden Labs. It stinks, and it's misleading for people to talk about 'buying' and 'selling' land on private sims when that's really not what's happening at all. Some of the other threads in Resident Answers discuss this in more detail, as well as give suggestions about reputable sim owners that your friend might want to deal with next time. Or your friend could just buy on mainland and pay tier directly to Linden Labs, who will consider him/her the 'owner'.

Island owners do have that power and it is one reason that neither me nor my sister "Sell" land on our islands. we only charge tier and have made many happy residents, Your "friend" needs to raise holy hell. Who was the island owner who would do such a thing? If this really happened people need to be warned of those land owners who engage in these type of activities, It isnt that I do NOT believe this has happened to you but many many times some mainland land robber Baron ALT has came into the forums saying this very same thing.

I agree. They need to change the button on private island parcels to lease, not sell or buy. From: Annabelle Vandeverre I think there shouldn't be a "sell" button on islands, period.
