i was wondering if these would be welcome additions to building according to the community. i'm starting a proposal for them, which can be found here . Shave - somewhat opposite to Hollow. say you have a square prim that you've hollowed out to say.. %50 of the prims size. then you cut a side of that prim away.. now, instead of that hollow hole being there, imagine it being solid instead. normally this would take 2 prims to accomplish said effect, with this feature.. only one. Pinch - simply being able to select the center point of any prim face and either push or pull it within a predetermined distance. (if you guys want a visual, just let me know and i'll work up something to illustrate what i'm talking about.)

i whipped up some basic examples, just so there's that visual component to these ideas.
each of these took 2 prims to make, with my proposal it would take 1.

From: Cybin Monde i whipped up some basic examples, just so there's that visual component to these ideas.
each of these took 2 prims to make, with my proposal it would take 1. What you call pinch is already used on spheres as "dimple". Now heres an experiment to try: make a sphere, dimple it, then convert the shape to cube or cylinder. Allowing dimple on other shapes besides spheres would be very useful, rather than having to convert the shape type. Your shave function is also pretty good, and would be useful for making 1 prim boxes, for example. Another suggestion would be to have a "router" type function that would allow you to cut away at the sides of a cube like you can do with hollow on a tube shape. Beyond this, the prism is very difficult to use because its measurements are not accurate to its actual size, so it is impossible to accurately calculate proper size with trig functions.

i forgot about Dimple.. that's a great workaround to get the same effect, so i suppose that "Pinch" would be redundant, but more apparent at the same time.
i love the "Router" idea too! i'm sure plenty of builders would enjoy that function. (even more so if it could be done in reverse, a sort of "Dimple/Router"... "Dimter"?)
too bad i hadn't waited until now to make the proposal, i would have liked to include "Router" in with the others.. although, it's your idea and not mine. (let us know if you make a proposal for that!)

dimple pinches cubes? I thought they only cut them wtih a straight slice (not like path cut nor sphere dimpling, more like when you pass a knife on a bread)

No, the modeling definition of dimple is taking a single vertex and moving it outward along a line that passes through the center of the object. Dimple and pinch are essentially the same opperation, just one is towards the center, the other is away.

From: TigroSpottystripes Katsu yeah, but does the SL dimple work that way with cubes? That would be the feature being requested.
