I know im new to Sl but i would like to see some kind of restriction to gambling or at least make some kind of area (like an island ) that all gambling stuff, casinos etc will be. that is for 2 resons
1)I may be noob still but when i want to go shopping i allway end up in a casino(not as a player) that is becase when i search for instance hair or menwear i got some hits and in the text it says about the items im lloking for but when you teleport there its not a shop rather than a huge casino place with a small place as shop selling the freebies.I mean come on something has to be done for this. Not only for the customers side but for the seller side too.
2)Many ppl as i can think want to have fun in-world making friends going to places they find cool,go shopping etc even having some sort of romase. As a new resident i find realy hard to spot some of this places when allmost all search results end up in a gambling place. That goes for event search too.
Some may call me just another camper or something else.Well just think this if i am a camper i still need to spend that money somewhere and i prefer spending it to a nice pair of boots rather than a slot machine.
I dont have any problem with gambling my problem is that this thing is just to anoying i mean you have over 10+ ads for the same casino multiply that by the casinos numbers and figure out what i see in search.
So if not placing thoes fasilities in a remote area at least do something about their ads so that everyone will be happy customers, shop owners, and even the casino owners.

You have a valid set of points, however, I think you are being overly dramatic about your search engine confusions. You should not be getting a list of casinos when you search for prim hair, or shirt, or camera…casino classifieds and groups don’t place keywords to EVERY thing in their description—so you shouldn’t be getting those search results. One thing you want to bare in mind. Stay away from really high traffic areas…those are like tourist spots. They offer you nothing but lag and over-zealous business moguls. If you do a search, you’ll find more often than not that the middle of the list are the highest quality companies or locations. Of course there are times when you’ll search for, say a Nikon camera, and there will only be a few companies that have that…you won’t get a casino on that inquiry search. Basically, what I’m saying is, if you’re getting casinos in your searches all the time, then you need to reevaluate your choice of keywords.

Well just as i said im still learning so i might be over reacting a bit. A small shop owner can promote his company in several ways. Via the forums here, and also by placing an ad in the classified within SL. If you want to stand out among the myriad businesses, I suggest you try something new. Don’t sell shirts and shoes…sell film equipment. Try something unique so someone’s search query will pin-point your NEW product. Just like in real life, if I want a pizza, I have a million choices to choose from, but if I want a falafel, the selections are much fewer. Keep that in mind when you develop a service or product. If you really MUST compete with a large demographic or service base, then how will you make your’s stand out? One way to do that is with enthusiasm and quality design. If I—for example—wanted to purchase a PDA style product in SL…I would do a little research, because I know there are several companies that offer them. If I find typos in the classified, or bad design in the ad or the storefront…I will not give them business. If the company cares about their design esthetic, the literature they offer, and they are enthusiastic about their product…I will not only give them business, but I will landmark them, and share that LM with other people I find in my travels who seek the same product. And no, just because I am a designer, I do not focus my advice on good design. I am being completely honest, from a professional stand point. I will always push good design when someone asks “how do I stand out among the myriad products and companies?” Good design, and a unique product.

What you suggest is basically Zoning. A topic that has been hotly debabted. And most likely won't ever happen in SL.

well something like that but i can understand that something like that is inpossible .That is why i suggest at least limit the number of ads been placed fror those placeses or something like that.
example. 1ad for the place and not 10+ad for the same thing.
i hope you understand what im trying to say im afraid my english are not so good.:<

The search engine is seriously flawed. Especially with Mature Content checked, seemingly unrelated keywords bring some interesting results, especially sine casino have been banned from advertising officially. A creative casino owner can get his place into just about any search.

The truth is, you have to learn how to use clever keywords, on top of your ability to visually filter irrelevant posts. The majority of us are avid users of Google, and are masterful internet surfers...there is no excuse to be confused by the search feature in SL. I'm just being forthcoming here...nothing personal.

Honestly, all I wish is that they would restrict the size a casino could be Or, force them to be on private sims/islands instead of being allowed on the mainland so people can spread through multiple sims, buying up and pushing newer players who don't want to live next to it out of the way.

They aren't. However, all of them, or most, have changed their ads to "games." This allows to get around the restriction of not being able to advertise for their casino.
