Acquire -> Copy Texture -> With Color

I needed a red texture last night for my boots, because there isn't a color picker in the shoe options.

Didn't have a plain red tex on me, so I got what I thought was a simply brilliant idea... I created a box and gave it the silvery texture and colored it red. Then I copied the texture.

Didn't quite work the way I wanted it to, as what I was wanting was the *red* -- not yet another copy of the silvery metalic tex.

Does anyone else think this would be a good idea, and if so, could we pleeeeeease have this functionality?
