We really need some tools to support charity. If there was an option for businesses to automatically donate a percentage of their sales to charity, we can raise a lot of money.

We need an option to donate to a (verified) charity organization of your choice (donation records should be openly accessable, because verified donations would allow for all kind of charity events, transactions, work, jobs, auctions, etc.).

An object that is set for sale needs the option to:
- set a percentage that will go to charity
- set which charity organization will be donated (or which group of charity organizations).
This will greatly stimulate sellers to donate part of their profits, it will attract conscious buyers, and it will raise consciousness from other buyers. It would give more meaning to the SL experience and make both SL and the real world a better place.

I've requested this idea officially, if you like it, you can vote here:

I like that you are thinking about this and coming up with solutions LL might implement.

Here's another one: It would be useful to have a 'donate' as well as 'pay' option, especially in the Group set up. Metaphors are powerful; this is much more than a matter of mere semantics. I have met teachers in SL who, while they are pleased to accept donations from their students, take a principled stand against *requiring* a fee from people who come to learn (and find the 'tip' jar demeaning).

A teacher or school that could establish a group with say a $10L/week automatic donation, could generate a modest but meaningful income stream, distributing the cost of inworld expenses among their supporters.

It is very easy to set a vendor to donate a part of sales to any avatar.

Set up a group that merchants can join to set a percentage of their earnings to a charity through a charity avatar.

Yes, but you can't verify if part of the sales really go to charity. Also charity avatars are hard to verify. For most charity organizations there is no possibility to donate to within SL. I think this is a missed opportunity.
