Right now the 'magic beam' that shows we are interacting with an object in the game always comes from our left hand. This causes a problem in and off it self as the left hand has no set animations so it can (sort of) move as if directing that beam or the object its connected too (dosn't realy work all that well due to animation limits).

I was wondering if it could be possible to make the point of origin for this beam to be movable / attachable to objects we have attached to our avatar. Ive seen (or made) inumerous costumes that would benifit from this, wands / staves could have the beam shooting from the end, Guns could have the beam from the barrel, people with special eyes could have it coming from one or the other (or better yet alow it to come from multiple points!)

Anyhow this would not only alow the left hand animations some of us are interested in, but also alow us to incorperate the beam INTO the costumes we are making so that it adds to the costume instead of detracting.

I like this idea...

And yet I KNOW people would attach that beam to ... ummm... certain attached objects.... bah, I don't care. I like the idea. I'd love to have the beam coming out of my eye(s) instead of my hand.

Yes, I'm sure approx 50% of the 2nd life users would make a change from the hand right away...and it wouldn't be to the eyes !

heh yea theirs just as much tom-foolery possibly associated with this as with custom animations but lets hope that the benifits can out weigh the ... sillyness.
