Light, the EVIL object material, taxing on servers and residents alike. The only honest reason I use Light is because it brightens the textures I upload into SL. Often I find myself having gloomier looking textures IW then when I do them in Photoshop, even in the light of day.

Making them "Light" material brightens and contrasts the colors a great amount. What I propose is something that does this without taxing the servers, because they would not need to calculate the glow around an object, and shadows around objects.

Its a brightness/contrast slider and or text box that will increase or decrease the brightness and contrast of the texture on an object. I definately dont like wasting $10 on reuploading a manually brightened texture, and dont like being taved on making an object out of "Light" material.

Sorry about the essay here... I really feel strongly about this. :D

*also this could mean an llBrightnessContrast() LSL function! :D

Seconded, strongly. I do the same thing for the same reasons.

Yeah, definatly a good idea. I usually just want it to look like a light not actually be one, and giving it a function call would be great, I could turn monitors, leds and simulated lights on and off. And provided its acutally dark, they will look off.

Yes! Self-illuminated textures that don't actually cast light would be a godsend!
