I'm not quite sure how to express this, but I'd love to have something of a 'style attribute' that I could apply to faces of prims or entire prims that would texture them in a specific way. Say like I needed to make all the outer surfaces of a building have a certain texture, face repetition and level of shine. With a predefined style specified, I could apply this to all said faces quckly and easily...something like the format paintbrush in Microsoft Word (is it still a paintbrush?), or paragraph styles or character styles in QuarkXpress or InDesign...I could select prims or just the faces of prims, and hit them all at once with a style.
I realize that I could do this in other ways, but the current fashion of texturing several prims at one time, and setting them all the same way (finding the texture, setting shine, face repetition, rotation and offset gets very tedious after a while. It would be so great to be able to save these attributes and hit subsequent things with those rather than setting them each time. If you could save several of these 'texture styles' palette, and just drag them onto a prim surface this could give the designer some amazing speed and power at texturing.
Hope that was clear and not as vague as it now seems to me.

I know exactly what you mean. And it's a great suggestion. I just started texturing prims today and could have used such a feature at times.

Hmmm atexture Theme ?..nice
Even a texture Paintbrush tool to drag "attributes" from one object or shape to another.
cool
I am really hating the texture selector bringing up all textures in one hit when in my inventory they are sorted into separate folders...- my little whinge for the day

Lumi, I wrote a post a few minutes ago that, after reading this thread, seemed to be a close match. I added an addendum to address this issue. It's not quite as handy as your idea, but it should be faster to implement. (And the other things it permits you to do would be SO handy!)

More and better tools for content creation should be near the top of LL's priorities. If at all possible, I would also like a feature such as this.

yes we need better creating tools

As I've build and learned more and more tricks and improved my eye and details, I realise that so many things need improving now to really make building easier and more creative, I agree.
Lets have these:
* Allow more than one custom color at a time not replace the last one, each time, and they shuld persist every day once u add them not be one time session only.
Allow the same idea with frequently used textures, add to custom palette.
Yes, lets have a' repeat last color/texture command' so that any object is automatically painted and bumped the same.
' copy color/ tex/attributes from...' one object to another.
* Making of mirror finish texture. If ' Moove' can handle this why not SL. After all we have transparency why cant we make mirror refelective surfaces, I can in MOove and thats not half as complex as SL.
*Shading objects with more than one color, in either linear, radial etc.... in any rotation, up to say 3 colors from palette.
* Same with multiple texture merges on one object in all directions
*Graduated transparency.... centre in/out. linear, etc.. so objects canb be less transparent in centres, corners or in one end or more
* Join two shapes or more into a seamless' merged' shape.. this is badly needed by creators.
*Moulding shapes of prims to land countours... i really need this for gardening and landscaping, to make bare areas grassy etc... and for making better land shapes, walls, banks, and realistic feature cover with plants, etc.
* Larger prims, at least say 20 by 20 please.
*custom prim shapes like round corners, and flat prim squares ready in Tools create, made up. not always a block or tube,, more basic prim shapes to save time.
*FIX the jumping Camera on entering EDIT MODE
* Increase closer Zoom range for small work...

Lumiere, have you thought about using llSetTexture or llSetPrimitiveParams to texture your object using UUID's to specify textures? You could then paste in new UUID's and update your script to retuxture.
