Rewarding long service.

As an incentive for people to take out Premium membership and also to stay with SL, I think rewarding long service would be a good idea.

A good way to do this would be to allow an extra 512sq.m. free of tier to residents who have held a premium account for over 1 year. So they would be able to hold 1024sq.m. before they start paying tier, on the same rising scale as normal.

I doubt if this would affect the SL economy much. Land barons must be paying massive tier, as do sim owners etc, so the extra tier-free 512 would hardly affect their situation. Also, removing some tier on existing land owned by small-scale landowners when they reach their first anniversary might encourage them to buy more land.

The scheme could be extended to provide further tier concessions to residents who have been in SL, say, 5 years, or to those who have made a significant contribution to the improvement of the SL experience.

By the way, I have only been in SL 5 months and a Premium account holder for 4 months!

That sounds like a great idea. Especially for people like me. I still own my original first land and would love to buy more in my region if for nothing more than just the extra prim allowance. But with the cost of another 512 plot at near 10 K lindens, PLUS another 5 USD is holding me back...........the 10 K is a one time shot deal and I could gulp real hard and take the hit. But paying an additional 5 USD for something that is strictly intertainment on my part is a little hard to swallow. As it stands right now I find myself wondering why I spend $90 a year to play something I could play for free and adding another $60 to that is really hard to justify in my eyes.

Something like your suggestion would surely be a deciding factor for me. Hope the Lindens see this suggestion. :)

If you want more land, get your friends together in the same sim and own it as a group. The Coonspiracy started as half a dozen new Premiums merging their First Land and Tier.

It sounds like a good idea to me if possible. Some kind of reward system definitely. http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/4705/biggrin22td4.jpg

They already give bulk discounts if you buy more tier (higher tiers cost less per month per square meter). Where is LL going to come up with the money to sponsor this freebie? How it affects "the SL economy" is beside the point. Tier costs are all about LL remaining a fiscally solvent company.

Obviously! - I mean my idea would only be feasible if LL could afford it. My thought was that if my tier-free land went up from 512 to 1024m, I'd be likely to buy another 512m. So this might add to the demand for land, which LL can 'discover' where previously there was just off-limits sea, and then sell it!

A simpler idea might be to up the weekly stipend a bit as one stays in SL for longer. Having long serving members must be of benefit to SL as they can always be there to say "I remember when a 512m plot cost 20LS and I knew every resident and you could walk across the whole grid in 90 seconds!!! etc."

long term incentive program?

Like I have said before, any new incentives to remain a premium member is most certainly welcome. Toss me some free downloads as well, and a limited edition second anniversary t-shirt that you could trade in for a lapdance at some go go bar! Crumbs for the devoted pigeons who pay to stay in this game.

It seems like to look at the likes of.Toyota,Dell, Pontica (spelling) Nike, Nokia, etc......its only thebegaining of companys putting up their signs and saying........HEY buy of VR objects in Second Life like you do in Real Life.....Don`t have Money credit and buy money ( just like maxing your credit cards to buy that 10,000.00 in Plasma tv ) you been wanting. Just another way to hook you in...... :(

I would go for ad supported client viewers for freebies if it meant premiums get more bang for their buck. :p
