Events calendar / note

I have 2 suggestions for you to consider. First let me say that I live in London UK. This will help you understand where I am coming from with these suggestions.

1. To have an Auto updating Events & Classes Note. Let me explain this a little. The first thing I do in SL each day is go get a copy of the Events & Classes Note. Sometimes it has not been updated so this can take a few trips before I get one (Bare in mind I am 8 hours ahead of SL and the Devs have to sleep too).

Now I am guessing that the Events & Classes Note is a file on the server that is read only and a new one is added each day. If this is the case, how about having the same file but change the content so that I don't need to get a new one each day, the one I have updates itself? I hope you understand this idea.

2. This is a slightly different matter. I understand that there are 2 problems with holding early events for us Europieans. First that the Events & Classes Note can not be updated that early to include them and that no Laisons are online at that time.

Well I am not sure how to get around the Laison problem but as for the Events & Classes Note, how about extending it to include up to midday the next day?

I know that would mean more notice of early events so as to get them included but it does mean the Devs can sleep when they have to and we can still be informed of early events.

You make some good points, Garth. Tcoz and I were just talking about this the other day (mainly the need for some earlier scripting class times to accomodate the non-North Americans).

I think a smoother implementation would be a "link" between the client and the event calendar here on the website. Perhaps under the World menu in client there could be a Calendar option, click it and get an in world Event Calendar which is automatically updated by the website event calendar.

To take it a step or two further, have each of the events in the in client event calendar have a checkbox next to them -- if checked, send me an in game IM 5 or 10 minutes before that event starts so I don't forget about some special event or class I really wanted to attend.

Good thinking. A calander would be great and the IM reminder with a LM would be great too.

online games/communities are by nature worldwide. Lets see some global thinking from SL. Us euro's have it bad, imagine an Aussie. there would be no chance of attending events.
