Auction Ideas: Show yourself if you bid...

I bid on two auctions, and luckily I remembered what I'd bid on. I was thinking -- it would be nice if when logged in and viewing an auction, that the person's own name not be protected in the list of bidders, just to remind them "Hey...you...with the early-onset Alzheimers...Yeah. You bid on that!" :) Or, perhaps have the auction send a "You bid on XYZ" to the user.

And, a feature like Ebay's "set maximum bid" would be nice. The five minute extension rule is great to avoid snipers, but what happens if I can't be around for the end of my auction somehow? I'd love to be able to just set a "Here's the most I wanna pay for that spot" in the auction, and voila -- if someone outbids me, then so be it.

Well, hopefully after today, this will all be a non-issue for me, and I will finally have my plot of land! :)

Now when I go back to look at my auction, it *does* show my name. There's no way they could have instituted a change that fast...? It must have always shown the names...maybe I wasn't logged in.

Well, I'd still like to have the maximum bid feature I mentioned too... Unless that's already there and I missed it too. :)

No, you weren't imagining things; and no, they don't normally implement changes that quickly. But you aren't the first person to request this feature.
