Hi,

Should avatar appearance change with time?

Should avatar tools include age properties?

Do we want to be "young" or "old" inside a synthetic world?

Would our sense of presence change with a simulation of age?

What do you think?

Cheers.

I do see older Avatars from time to time and I like it. Its like having elders around.

I think it should be left to the individual to decide if they want to be young or old looking, myself I spend enough on my appearance (shapes, skins, hair, etc) to have the system mess with it.

If it was to be put in, I would hope that it would be an option that was selectable in the preferences (Avatar ages? Yes/No).

Would spark up a new business industry, the virtual plastic surgeons. hehe

Yea seems like the only options human avi age wise are young and hot, or white haired old. Would be nice to have more options, Although I do prefer hot thin young perfect breasted always good hair me to 29 year old rl me looks wise.

Interesting and novel, but I don't think I'd enjoy watching my avatar age as I age in real life. There are probably some people who would, and I think as I get older from time to time I may update my avatars look, but for the most part it is what it is, and I am what I am, lol.

Good idea, and tie it to your real chronological age, so the paranoids can rest easy about that as well.....

No. If a user wants to portray a certain agegroup, fine. But we sholdn't mandatorily age. I'm here trying to escape that.

What exactly would an "age" slider do? Physical aging is such an vague concept... it affects many people in many different ways. It's quite possible to gradually "age" your avatar by making a series of avatars, and I'd definitely support that. I don't think it's really feasible to have the system do it realistically for you, though.

::grin:: well, Draco, if involuntary non user controlled aging is implemented... I wanna see an animation for all those prims collapsing... perhaps with a cloud of flies on it...

Aged appearance is already an option, with Appearance, skins etc. isn't it? Aging... what resources would be necessary to implement that??

We have a flat World. Unaging avatars seem appropriate. :)

And when would it happen? Dragons (and other furries) almost asuredly don't have the same life span of a human.
