Spawning from an aparent bug in the IM code (???), I thought of annother feature that would be handy. Communications channels that you could create by adding them to a list. Channels should able to be publicly listed, or private.
The nice part about this, is that it would allow people who are working in different areas to still communicate in a common area. It would prevent people from having to gather in an area (lag fest) just to talk.
The current interface is ok, but channels should be tagged (perhaps with a # at the begging) to denote they are not players.
Suggested channels: #public #script #build #new-players #<sim>
Just an idea.

Along the same lines, being able to use different channels for normal chatting would also be useful for having multiple conversations in crowded areas. This was discussed in the scripting forum, as it pertains to the idea of having an "Institute" or a place where us scripters can hang out. The problem is that if you have a bunch of people having different conversations in the same place, they all cross over, and everything becomes impossible to follow.
