This proposal is for a chat channel which would work only for those on Help or Orientation islands.

New users would be in the chat channel and be told in some fashion how to use it if they have a question. How to ask for local help would be real conspicuous. It wouldn't bother them with messages until they decided to use the channel.

Volunteer group members would be in the channel if they are in the Help Island or Orientation Island sims, and could be in the channel when they are not in those sims.

Lindens would be in the channel however they see fit.

The Help Island chat channel would only appear in its window, not in the local chat display. The local chat display doesn't need any more confusion than it already has.

This would mean that new arrivals wouldn't need to wander all over the place or stumble upon a volunteer in order to ask a question.

This idea might be rendered less valuable by the upcoming Help Radio, but it might be able to get implemented faster and not require the presence of DJs to make it useful around the clock.
