Thank you for searching the forums before posting about a recently discussed topic. It shows that you have concern for other people's time and patience and that you don't just expect free support with no effort put forth on your part. Also, additionally, thank you for searching the JIRA for applicable bugs. Voting for them gives the developers some idea what is giving folks the most trouble.

I was posting in the forums for a few months before I ever found out about JIRA, so I would never berate a newbie for not searching there for info.

It doesn't matter: Google indexes the JIRA. Anything you can find via google is automatically considered "obvious."

Searching Google for his request would have located the specific entry in the JIRA, whether or not he was aware the JIRA existed. That's what Google's there for: To tell you what you didn't already know, not what you do already know.
