Group IM chat ....arrrggghhh

I have several groups I want to stay in because of important information I receive. However, at times, it's very very chatty. It interrupts my conversations and also makes my building go slower.

Could there be a way to disable group IM chat?

Making yourself "Busy" by World >> Set Busy will stop all group IM traffic until you yourself initiate/continue an IM session. You can initiate or continue open IM sessions while Busy, but you cannot use open Chat to converse with other persons. Also, any inventory offered to you will be rejected and winds up in your Trash.

Close the group chat, and keep your Local Chat history open, any further chat from the group chats you close will not show until the next time you log in.

I'm about getting sick of groups in general, I get spammed to join groups so much when i teleport somewhere new, get asked to join one i'm already in over and over again, enter a club, have to have it on to do certain things somewhere, etc. Starting to really be annoying and its not like we have that many group slots anyway so you gotta keep deleting and adding and stuff. Though a few of my groups are actually relavent to what I do, those I find fine it's the rest and overuse of them that can get annoying.

There is at least one JIRA request about making groupchat an optional feature, which can be turned ON or OFF by the group owners/officers. So I suggest you go look it up. Many store owners and creators would love this feature, to keep their update group free of spam. Too many customers ditch update groups because of all the spam going on, while all they're really interested in is updates on new releases.

When the chat first comes up, don't close it, just minimise it and forget

Ok I not that long ago, also got kicked out of an area because I kept refusing to become a walking billboard for an area. Basically their group inviter thing kept spamming the crap out of me and when I asked them to stop I was booted out. Really, I have become really annoyed sometimes at how groups are being used now.

Well I wouldn't ask spammer to stop spamming unless I'm admin to that area. I would just mute the offender and forget about it.

Now they're good compared to what they were 2 years ago, when every post by anyone reopened the window everytime.
You used to also get people in some groups "Can I get a TP?" expecting to get to the venue because they were too lazy to look for it in search or they're landmarks. So I used to TP somewhere risque then send them the TP and TP home again
