It occurs to me that avatars will pass on... either the player leaves SL or at worst, actually dies.
So what happens to their items and money?
If a few people are working on something really cool and one person dies in RL then not only is it very sad for the player remaining as they may have formed a great friendship, but their final project together may never be completed as they may have the only copy of a thing.
Plus, if it were me, I would like to leave my money, including that which I have in ginko bank, to one or more friends.
Toss this one around guys.

That sounds like a great idea. Perhaps having a number of projects in the works and/or Linden Dollars put into a cube, and if that cube does not receive a message from you, like a chat message, every day, at a certain time or whatever, it releases its contents to certain people that you have designated. Perhaps have it send its contents via an internal server (this is very possible, trust me) and have the objects sent to a receiving "node" that belongs to one of the recipients. Thus, the objects/money change hands to a person you wish to receive whatever it is you want. Only problem with this is for how long you want to delay the transfer, as if, say, you had a problem in RL and couldn't come to SL for a bit, the Will Cube would transfer its contents. Perhaps set the time delay to a week or so before it transfers its contents? Good luck!

I think LL will already transfer accounts from a deceased person to the person named in their RL will.... or possibly to their family in the event of the will not being specific, as accounts in SL count as 'assets', technically.
Ask for clarification from LL's legal team / customer service department?
Maybe if someone was dying they could send an email to support saying "I hereby agree that if I should die please give my account to _________".

Big fat thumbs down, worst idea ever.
Linden Labs SHOULD NOT support this... otherwise, people will abuse it to get around illegal stuff.
Real life Death Wills should be good enough and it is a hard proof than trusting people on internet.
Angel Fluffy got the right idea there.

"Get around illegal stuff"?
You mean like claiming to be dead to get at the inventory of a banned account?
Or claiming that some victim is dead to get at their account?
can you elaborate on this point?
