Although SL is blessed with many, many gestures (which I use often), I sometimes wish to express a physical action for which a gesture does not exist.

I'm very surprised that SL does not have an emote key. In the old text-based MUDs, MOOs, etc, the key was nearly always the colon key, and worked like this...

if I were to type

: pouts and storms out of the room.

the text line would come across as:

Taco Rubio pouts and storms out of the room.

This would be very useful as I quite regularly pout and storm out of rooms, and I don't thnk it would be a radical shift in the text subprograms.

Thanks!

:nods, completely agreeing. He was raised on MUSH. He goes on to say, "Sure, there are gestures, and they do capture some aspects of the descriptive language I could use some of the time... if folks are looking, anyway."

;'s opinion on the matter probably doesn't count for much, but for what it's worth, he thinks some sort of pose would be userful.

:conceeds, "Perhaps it breaks the whole visual metaphor if users are allowed to 'degenerate' into text." YMMV.
