Remove the dark times until the light system is fixed... At night Second Life seems empty and you have no idea where you are. If the lights were enabled it would look really cool... but for now it doesn't.

Turn debug menu on, in normal view not mouse look, hit alt-M, then go to mouse look and aim your view at 12 oclock (straight up) then hit alt-M again. this will give you perpetual noon. Until you restart that is.

Yes! Thanks for that info - i was hoping something like that was possible but never asked or tried it. Building can be such a pain in the dark i was starting to build worklights.

I use the Debug menu whenever night falls. But given that the Debug menu will be removed when SL goes gold, I sort of wonder what is the point of having night in Second Life. Especially since not everyone experiences night at the same time; I gather that you can be chatting with someone who sees the sun at high noon, while you're looking at a night sky. I can imagine that having shared night could be cool -- night battles, dancing, etc. -- but why does it vary from person to person? Why not have night be universal?
(It might be cool to have time zones for the various sims, so that one north-south row of sims would all experienced night simultaneously, and then the next row, and then the next. Although that wouldn't mesh well in terms of the apparent position of the sun.)

ALT-N = instant noon if you have debug on. also, you can adjust your gamma *down* (i use 0. if you want the view brighter.

You mean that the darkness is client related???? That's stupid indeed.
