I guess the best way to describe is to make an analogy to blogs: everyone has their own little blog and can make posts, but instead of going to every blog all the time you use an RSS aggregator to check up on multiple blogs from one convenient place.

The idea would be that a post is the same as a group announcement (a short title, short message and a spot for an attachment), and where every resident has their own feed and everyone else can just subscribe to it and get a notice when a new post is made by someone on their feed.

This would - mostly - eliminate the need for product/store announcement groups, since you could just subscribe to a resident's feed instead without needing to sacrifice a group slot for it, or have to deal with the inevitable group IMs.

For DJs or event hosts, they could use their feed to let people know when they're hosting and where, without needing to make a group for it, or be in a some club's "VIP" group, or having them send out a conference IM to all their online friends.

I hope the above made any kind of sense :p.
