Judging by other places in the forum, the "alt" system is getting a bit of an overhaul behind the scenes. I really like the way AOL manages "families" of accounts, with a primary account holder and up to 4 other "screen names". I know it would be a lot of work but why not bring "alts" much closer to their "head" account, so that dad can have his kids online and be able to see where they are and what they are doing, inside the viewer? I'd also like to see Alts able to pool inventory and cash balances, though again this isn't exactly trivial.

It also brings up the hugely entertaining option (when combined with my other suggestion about "inventory preview panes";) that the head account ID could sit their Av down at a PC inside SL, run a viewer on it, and "play" their Alt on that virtual computer's screen...
