you have had 2 weeks to get accustomed to inventory as bag(dragging an object from inventory to world Moves the object instead of Copying the object). on a scale of +2 to -2 how do you rate it?

+2 two thumbs up!
+1 i like it
0 i don't care
-1 it's better than a stick in the eye
-2 it's a stick in the eye

-2 stick in the eye

This is partially because I was used to the old method, and since this is a beta, that point is moot and should be ignored.

But also, because inventory is only a bag when you take things out of it. You drag things from the inventory in to the world, but you don't drag things from the world in to your inventory, you have to do a "take copy". Also, when you remove something from the world, it doesn't go back in your bag, it goes away (to the trash, yes, but this is "away" for all pratical porpoises). This breaks the metaphor.

Also also, objects in the world are fragile, they can be lost or accidentally deleted or wander off or whatever. It is now much easier to loose hours of work. Especially if you're working on something temporary with an llDie in it.

-2 It's a stick in the eye

In order to not lose things by accident, I end up making multiple copies of inventory items, which artifically bloats my inventory...not making it easier to manage...but harder.

Not to mention the reason I have this clumsy workaround in the first place, I have lost things that are gone forever!

It's a stick in the eye with a savage twist, IMO.

-3 the stick is much lower and involves me grabbing my ankles.

I really, really, really, don't like it.
I know what your thinking - "3 really's is kinda strong."
No, Mr Clean is strong, Hercules was strong, Lysol is strong and kinda stinks a little, I mean like really stinky not 3 really stinky but at least one.

I'm used to the old way. I'm used to simply deleting things in world that I've rez'd from my inventory.

Maybe if inventory objects, when hovered over with the mouse, would do a hover-text showing last modified date and time...

Although I really want a more explorer type of inventory window -- show me the details, baby! Give me a + next to each object, that when clicked would show me any/all objects/scripts/etc within the main object. Give me a column showing the creation time and another one showing the last modified time. Give me a column showing me the creator's name. Give me a column with a thumbnail pic.

Sorry I gotta agree with Xav on this one.

I like the "concept" but if fall through when your buzzing quick and forget the shift key.

and as a note... I dont know if it happened to anyone else, but things attached in this manner (single items forgot to shift), ended up disappearing on me when entering a busy sim - and didnt end up back in either inventory or trash - just lost.

so no, I'm not a fan.

(and yes, checked the av clothing files too :( )

I dont care for it either and Ive lost things for the first time since it was introduced. Also as a side note, since it was introduced whenever I make new clothes I spend a lot of time looking for them. They never end up in the same folder and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to where they are found. I spend a lot of time opening & closing folders hunting for clothing items I just made.

Put me down for a neg 2.5....I've had to go digging in my trash more times I care to count....

Pulling something out of inventory should *always* just be a copy, no if, or buts about it...it just doesn't make sense to have inventory be a "bag"....this is a digital world, not a physical one.

it wouldn't be so bad if we could "undo" a delete - just last week, I missed a "shift-unselect on a fairly complex object that I had spent the entire week building, textureing etc, I was trying to save it to my inv so I could move it to its new home... unfortunately it was named object, and I haven't emptied my trash in months and I pulled out the top and bottom 50 "objects" in my trash to now avail. It was pretty cool too :-p

definite -2 on the BPJ scale!

I hate losing items, cuz I forgot to copy them back to inventory.

I've gotten in the habit of always using the shift key when I take anything out of inventory. I haven't lost anything that way, but since I'm always copying anyway, that might as well be the default.

When I first started SL, I was a bit confused why I was ending up with duplicate objects in inventory, because I assumed it worked as a bag, like it does now. However, I figured out fast what was happening and thought it was a great idea. Other than new people will probably expect it to work that way, I don't see any advantage to it being a bag.
