a safe place for money

I was just wondering if there could be a way to store money and or not often used (or expensive) items in a seperate inventory. Perhaps this could be an enhancement used for paying members?

I am asking as I had put my money into the Linden Bank, thinking it was run by the Lindens. Being still rather new to the game, I was shocked (well and angry) to find out the bank appears to be closed and my money lost.

I don't like to carry much cash as I had been warned early on about the programs designed to take your money.

So I got to thinking, could there not be a locked vault of some type, an icon that could be used to store money seperate from your day today amounts in the library section of the inventory for example?

For all I know this may indeed exist, it was a topic thrown around last night in world with myself and a couple of longer term residents.

Just because of the sheer obviousness:

Your pocket IS the safest place for your money.

An alternative is to create an Alt, and store your money there. But I have to agree, the safest place is right there in the upper right corner of your screen. No object can take your money unless you give it debit permission, and there is a huge yellow window that drops down explaining what you are about to do. Only allow Debit permission when necessary. (In my 1 year of SL experience, this means pretty much never, unless you are starting a business, and setting up some type of scripted vendor system.)

"Perhaps this could be an enhancement used for paying members?"

Where did that descrimination come from? Aren't 'non-paying members' money as good as yours?

Do a wise thing... if you cannot trust yourself to not spend it, and are paranoid you might agree to give it all to some 'non-descript prim' then cash it out and put it in a real bank, or maybe give it to some money tree where someone may benefit from your generiousity?

There's a few different ways:

* an alt as mentioned (possibly in combination with a scripted "wallet" where you can just "withdraw" money from the alt when you need it - as far as convenient goes, this would be at the top)

* keep the L$ in one or more sell order(s) on the LindeX that will never fill (for exampe L$1/$1, since there is no cost for setting up and cancelling orders, you don't loose any money - easy once you figure out how to place a limit sell)

* if it's a substantial amount, sell the L$ on the LindeX and if you need money you just buy them back again (you'll loose a tiny amount this way, but as long as you do a limit sell at the lowest and a limit buy at the highest amount when you buy them back it'll be negliable - only really doable for large amounts, rather involved and limit sells/buys confuse some people)
