As our lists grow larger..... inventory-textures-objects, calling cards! Wouldnt it be nice if we would type the first letter and it skip down to that section?
Is there a proper name for that function? =0)

hey - i tried that hoping it would work.
I second stellers suggestion. I've stopped using the IM drop down in favor of the find tool cuz searching the drop down takes longer and i'm easiily confused. gid idea Steller ![]() flyk _____________________

or a search for your inventory
12-08-2002 07:34
that'd be nice too, 'cause if you think about it, you could have a card called "Cory Linden" a texture called "Cerulean" and a script called "Chess Piece"
if you hit c, which would it jump to? If there was a search (or filter, even better) so that you could type into a box - with wild cards - and only have matching items displayed... I type "c*" and everything in my inventory that starts with a c is displayed, and nothing else. Or (and this one means a lot to me) type "*1.0" and I'll only get the 1.0 models of my objects instead of the 40+ beta revs =) That'd be nice. |

texture application
12-08-2002 08:35
i have been subdividing my folders, in an attempt to organize everything, however this is being thwarted by the texture menus insistance on displaying all textures, all the time. Anyway we could get that to act more like our inventory?

yeah, textures

I was going to say the textures, but nadas to fast. for a while, the "texture selector" would automatically "remember" the last texture I applied which was nice if I'm textureing a whole buncha things - now I have to scroll through and look for it every time

can't you

just use your inventory for it? I can't think of any situations where I had to use the texture list after my discovery of it's current (imho) broken state, But I will admit that I haven't done a lot of texture work. At what points can you not grab an inventory texture and drag & drop?

well

you can drag and drop from inv to object, but that only applies the texture to a single side - so on a square you would have to do it 6 times.
you can also drag the tex from the inv into the texture selector, but this means you need the inventory open when you are building, taking up valuble display real estate. BBC _____________________

shift toggle texture
12-08-2002 14:42
hmm unless they changed, and they might have since i haven't tried it in awhile, if you hold shift when you drag drop a texture to an object, it applies it to the whole one. if it doesn't, then think about trying to apply textures to a hollow cube, thats another 4 faces, which brings the grand total to 10... or is the hollowed out part counted as one surface, hmm i seem to remember applying one to my frame, and it doing the whole interior part... not sure though, need to expirement.

yes shift drag still applies it to all sides
and i stopped using the texture pull down because of the sub directories too. i have a hard time finding anything. I've been meaning to find a workaround but havent yet. Only one hour 12 minutes to go! ![]() _____________________
