Sometimes friends don't want me to find them on the map... they uh... want their privacy ;)

The thing is, they remove me from their list when they want to be left alone, which is a pain in the butt.

Maybe there could be a feature where you just appear offline? That way you could have your privacy but still not have to wipe off your friends list to do so.

Thankies.

Just don't track your friends! LOL I HAAAAAAAATE being mapped. Especially if not asked before, that's simply rude. Really!
Maybe you should take a hint they delete you uh! not sure it's just for privacy XD

BUT

I give you that: I'd love invisi-mode.
That and that darn itchy online notification.... GONE!! Or at *least* toggable ON/OFF??
Is there anything more annoying then being in the middle of a game, and you get the pop-up, it distracts you, you were winning now you're losing GAHHH XD hehe
Anyways just my 5cents.

For now, just grab an alt. ;)

An alt seems the only feasible solution, but I don't want to get an alt. Feels like I'm chipping off of my main self X_X

Heh, anyhow, I think "Famous" people could benefit from this too. I'm sure when a "famous" person logs on, they get blammed with IM's. :)

Honestly if people are taking you off of their list for privacy then you must be doing something to force them to do it. Map stalking friends isn't cool :(

You can turn off online notifications in Preferences :) Although my list is always buggy for some reason and shows people on who aren't or shows them off when they are on.

I'm not sure about the invisibility, though we would all like to have that sometimes, I'm on but you don't see me...

I think there is need for a better status system over all... Something showing in friends lists a (Away) or (Busy) following their names. Also having a (Away) message like there is for setting yourself to busy and also a way to set those messages without digging into preferences.

There probably are quite a few designers out there who find it necessary to use the Busy system when working on a design. But its not exactly designed right now in such a way that you can easily put specifics in it each time... Like, I'll be available again at 6:30PM SLT.

Perhaps we just need a little more granilarity of control on the permissions of friendship. Already the right to modify someone's objects is a seperate item under the friends menu. Perhaps allowing GPS tracking should be set aside as an option as well?

Though frankly, I believe people should take the friend list a little more seriously and just swap cards if they want to have someone's name on file. This is (probably) why the profile system also has a space for you to leave notes that you can refer back to later.

Is every person you meet on the street and exchange a few words with your friend, in reality? No. Fact is you probably don't even care to see to about half of them again after that first exchange. I'm just boggled by people who run around and offer friendship without even saying a greeting, in SL. I just tell them plainly, "Try saying Hi first", and decline.

Too many people are afraid of offending a person by doing that, I suppose. Whats really wrong with politely explaining, "I'm sorry, but... I don't know you all that well yet."

Just my ten cents on the matter.

Yeh. I'd like to be able to drop a business card on someone or get a card from a profile that's just a pointer to them, for convenience. You wouldn't be friends or anything, you'd just be able to bring their profile up.

Seeing this everytime makes me weep because... because I ask for it so much too. Who else wants this a lot? I know Travis Lambert and FlipperPA Peregrine do.

I am re-requesting this because with direct-teleporting, anyone on your friends list can TP directly to you now :(

Invisibility!! Pleeeaaasseee!! I neeed it!!! Urgently!!!

I just want to have a peaceful time wandering, and exploring ALONE.
I can never do that
I turned out to be quite popular and always have people tracking me and appearing without advice.
Sometimes I enjoy that but sometimes I just want to be ALONE and enjoy Second Life itself.
If we could have an optional invisible status for some friends ti would be great. I really need it!
I don't want to delete anybody. I love most of my friends and don't want them to know I've erased them from my firned's list. That could really hurt any friend's heart.
But sometimes one just needs to be alone.

I have an on-going vote about this, and also discussed it on this same forum at /13/64/79812/1.html Since it seems to be something people constantly suggest and think about, I really think there is a need for such a feature....

Hi Dweia. I've seen that voting suggestion. But don't have any available votes. That's another thing I hate. Why we only have 10 votes? I really would like to vote for that feature, but I can't. That's not much fair.

Yes.... I know.... Why instead of having one vote per suggestion per person, we have only 10 votes to use for hundreds of suggestions? I can't see the logic in that... Isn't the possibility to vote, supposed to mean, possibility to vote for what ever you think is important??

We really, really need this. To be able to map people and know exactly where they are every minute theyre on is just so weird to me.

For whatever it's worth, I delete acquaintances that I didn't really establish a good friendship potential with almost immediately after they offer friendship for this specific reason, and I really feel bad because I'm sure most of them don't deserve it. But Ive had a few bad experiences with people following me and I just dont feel good about this mapping thing.

Can we please have a invicibility mode so we can keep our friends lists and allow these friendships to chance?

Pleassseeee???

I cant see why this simple request hasnt been granted yet it seems so obvious.

Seems to me one of the issues getting this feature through is wording.
'Invisible' seems to be creating some confusion. Perhaps 'stealth mode'
or something of the sort may be a bit less confusing.

Can someone explain to me how hiding your online status can cause griefing?
That seems to be the only real explanation for the lack of feature implementation given thus far....and THAT confuses me!

I voted on all of the propositions regarding this request
...and appreciate those that started the propositions!!

Thanks and cheers...just my 2 cents!

"Show as offline" is prolly a succinct, simple way to say it. "Chat invisibility" may be a misnomer, since it tends to give off the wrong impression that your chat has become invisible. Neither is your status, since that would SHOW as OFFLINE. But I'm all for whatever works, ya? :)
