I'm contemplating submitting a proposal, but thought I would ask here first. Is there something impossible about the idea that I'm missing?
Thanks.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if in addition to the ability to let friends edit our objects, we had the option to let friends edit our attachments while they were being worn? Many times I've created something for a friend that I would like to be able to custom fit for them as well. Also, it would be a great thing for us designers when customers could use some help with fitting.

Sounds like a good idea for clothing and attached objects. I didn't know we couldn't do that; I never tried.

Might have some implications for avatar sex.

Lord yes, Miss Doyle! I would be able to fit things so much better than the painful "a little up to the left, no your left" dialogues I have. It's like tailoring via email as it stands now.

Heartilly seconded... the great "you have a bald spot" debate could soon become a thing of memory... (oh please please please!)

On the one hand, it would be a really good and helpful thing. On the other hand, adjusting and fitting attachments is really a skill everyone should have, even if it's only rudimentary positioning.
I've helped newbies adjust things (mostly hair) and it's frustrating to have to explain how they should do it and not knowing whether they're even seeing what they should be seeing, and I'm sure it's equally frustrating for them, but it's really only that one first time and they'll know how to. Just doing it for them because it's easier, doesn't help them nearly as much in the end. If someone is willing to do the reading "Hair Editing 101: The Ultimate Salon Guide for Beginners" (http://lindenlifestyles.com/?p=113) covers pretty much every part of attachment editing anyone would ever need to know. (Edited to add that for prim skirts specifically "Requesting tutorial for skirt adjustment for buyers " is a great help as well ) |

On the one hand, it would be a really good and helpful thing. On the other hand, adjusting and fitting attachments is really a skill everyone should have, even if it's only rudimentary positioning. Well yes, and I include a notecard on how to adjust and modify prim attachments with all my outfits and attached devices. But telling a customer they need go off and study harder isn't my notion of customer service. Provide the information, but sometimes it's easier just to fix it in two seconds. Besides, some of us (she said modestly) are just better at this than others--probably due to making things on a regular basis. I'm more than happy to help friends or polite customers. The only downside I see it that I would not want to be on everyone's friendslist in order to do this. Perhaps there could be a way to temporarily toggle permissions on? |

I am pretty much a pro at adjusting prim items now HOWEVER when I first started, I launched many a head of hair into the middle of a sim simply because I was inexperienced with the SL edit tool controls.
Let's face it -- these controls are heavy handed and the slightest error can have horrible ramifications. It would be great to be able to help people look decent and support your product fit etc. until people get the hang of edit - IF they ever intend to...some people have no intention of ever building and no desire to learn. I'd vote for it. |

Count me in.. I've "fitted myself" with Virrginia's uniforms several times, and I still don't have the hang of it. the edit tools require a degree of finesse that I seem incapable of achieving. Sigh.
