Okay, I had a thought. Is there a particular reason why the sims could not change size? If a sim was 512x512, LL could double the land allotment (but of course thus 1/2 the prime allotment per m^2). This should not increase the sim load, since the amount to actually draw would be the same (same # of primes) and if anything, would increase the speed since there would be less need to transfer visual data across the sim lines. This would also allow players more freedom in building since they would have more land (for example, you could have a yard, or some other lower prime dense areas). It would also increase the green space. If 256 is some magic number, another option would just to shrink the AV's in half, thus effectively doing the same thing. Thoughts?

I would like to agree with this, for the reasons you stated, and also to provide more variety in appearances. I think sims should be able to grow (within reasonable limits, I suppose) and shrink at will.
Along with this could come ways of affecting other sims without them having to do it. If you have buildings built to your scale on your land, and a regular-size sim comes along, we could point a ray gun at them or something and reduce/enlarge them to fit.

Well besides density no, though it would be easier to just shrink the size of all AVs. This'll make everything seem bigger though so EVERYTHING will be WAY outta perportion.

Isn't the default height of an AV something crazy like 6'6"?

So many people are just like totally tall in this world. I used the AV ruler to set my Avatar-self to my RL height of 5'7".
It's not unusual to see people inworld who are 6'5"-6'11" which is just wierd.

Shhhhh...don't say those things to "the tall ones"! They might get shorter and discover all of our secrets! (I wonder if there's a "short avatar" group...lol)

Xylor, that makes you weirder then ever (which scares me, knowing there is something in this universe weirder then the pre 6'6 xylor).
