Free uploads for premium members

Well dunno if this has been brought up before, couldn't find it with Search.

But seriously, I think we need more advantages by being Premium Members than just being allowed to buy Linden land, which is a seldom possibility anyway compared to all the private land sales. So my suggestion is to let Premium Members have free uploads, or at least uploads to a discounted price. I can imagine that it will finance itself by having more premium subscribers when that membership gives more advantages.

I think uploads should be free for everybody but thats me. Now just letting the premium members have this option would not be fair to those of us that can not or have not gone premium yet. Free uploads for premium wouldnt make me any more intrested in jumping to that level. my suggestion, either all or none. nobody is better then anybody in this place.

Free uploads isn't a terrible idea. While there are plenty of people who contribute, it is mostly premiums who are paying for the land (island owning non-premiums excepted). That is not an insignificant cost. Free uploads would be a nice break. It's not a matter of "being better than anyone else." If it wouldn't make you make the jump, fine, but for those of us that have and pay significant sums of money to LL, it softens that blow.

There's already more money pouring into the virtual economy than money leaving it, do we REALLY need to make that sink smaller?

You need more L$ to go around when the customer base keeps growing. If Supply Linden didn't print new L$ they'd become scarce, making them more expensive, meaning people would buy less and spend less in-world until things stabilize again and you have a lot of grief for no good reason.

Bay City L$ auctions are pushing sinks above sources (other than Supply Linden) as well:
May sinks: L$194.5 million
May sources: L$140 milllion

Uploads could have been free for May and the sinks would still have been bigger than the sources, although LL would have lost out on US$115,000.

Hmm, I'm still of the opinion that upload cost should be dependent on size, so conservative textures are cheaper to upload. However, I don't think that free uploads for premiums is the way to go, perhaps a small discount, so for people who upload a lot it could work out to save a fair bit, say 25% I dunno?

I think we get 30 free uploads a week as it is. With that much available, we can surely be creative enough to use those uploads to make something for sale and keep our Ewallet full. (^_^)y

[edit out numbers, as they're unreadable, and I misread how you compaired those numbers]

TBH, the numbers used to be drastically different. 160 mil vs (before Supply Linden) 400 mil.

Two other ideas, but related

How about these ideas:

1: Discount BULK uploads. Rather than run bulk uploads as just a pile of single transactions, run it as one big one, maybe with a limit on size.

Then, have some sort of tier system (or just a simple discount.) 10% off over 5 uploads.
25% off over 25 uploads. 50% off over 100 uploads.

2: Provide for a default permission template to be applied to all uploads.

If you are uploading 3 or 4 hundred things, it is a PIA to change permissions on them.
(If there is a way to do this, I would love to know what it is.)
