Last night while test-building miscellaneous objects near my place in Hawthorne, it's painfully obvious how crammed that sim is, and how you really can't do much more there.

But I have the urge to build. Constantly. I MUST BUILD... STUFF!

So... Everytime I've found a nice, relatively quiet piece of land that I could play around with, in a nice, relatively quiet neighborhood, it's always WAY out in the boonies where nobody would ever visit. (Without some serious marketing campaign on my part, hehe).

So anyways, I was thinking, it'd be nice if there were some kind of teleport object which we could set up that our visitors could use for free. It would consist of portal A and portal B. You put one in one place, the other in another place. You can move freely between both places by walking through through the portal. Simple.

Obviously there are teleportation fees people have to pay normally, but I'd like visitors to my buildings to be able to check out my other stuff without having to pay the fee to teleport half way across world, or endure crossing many lagged boundries to fly there.

The portal object would have a tax put on it similar to lights. I wouldn't mind if it was more expensive than usual, because it would be so damn useful. It would have controls to choose whether anyone and everyone could use it, or only group members, or only you. Etc.

But yeah... Is this something that's already been mentioned / thought about? Will we ever see something like this?

I would definately love to see this, it would make unused land on the outskirts of the world eiasier to use and explore. LL listen, adding more land to the edge of the world would be more useful if users can build a different kind of teleporter to that land. People can even have (oh what is it callled......) partners in buisness that dont have to be next-door neghbors. This also could help in spreading people and places evenly around the world, making sure that popular places arent all next to each other on the same sim, which creates major lag and other problems.

Exactly.

My absolute number one reason for wanting to build all my stuff near my place? Because we've got a nice community going on there. We're all close together, we can hang out, keep in touch, help each other out quickly.

But I wanna expand on what I'm doing without being forced to split apart from that community because that sim is so cram packed with stuff and is painfully laggy to use.

If we could expand into other zones AND maintain a quick and easy link between the zones, it would be perfect. We could still keep the community, still move freely from place to place, etc.

The teleportation fees are cheap enough for one-off journeys, but when it come downs to stuff you need to do regularly, it adds up really quickly.

Although useful Im unsure if this is too much to ask. I think that teleporting is another way to keep money flowing in the economy. Im wondering a couple of things in relation to this.

One would be if you wanted something like this and wanted it to be free for users if it could be like an 800# where the costs were possibly reduced and then absorbed by the owner. There are problems associated with this of course since word could get around and the item be abused. That would mean very high cost to the owner. A fix to that hypothetical would be having the option to have a list of approved users the owner could specify.

The other, and perhaps more likely is can we have maybe 2 places we could set to home (home & alternate property) where we could have free (or reduced) teleporting fees(?).

Misnomer,

First off, I LOVE your little mountain house at the base of the cable car thing... very nice!

Anyways... I'd thought about basically everything you just mentioned. Maybe the taxes involved could be based on how many used the portal, but yeah, then it'd get known and everyone would use it and you'd go bankrupt.

Then I thought about the allowed user list, which is handy, but sort of goes against the desire for anyone who drops by to freely go to the other location(s). Not a huge issue really since you'll probably wind up meeting that person anyway and adding them to your list. But it's always a drag waiting for someone to add you.

And the 2 home locations thing is for sure something I'd like to see implemented. Main case in point is you always have 1 main home location, and then for any games you might play, you'd have a secondary home which you'd set to the game's location so that when you die in the game you reappear in the game (or at least near to the game). It'd be nice if every time you play a game you weren't over writing your real home location.
