It'd be nice to turn off a leg, arm, hand, or head, sometimes.
-headless horseman outfit
- pirate with pegleg
- custom heads made out of prims without the regular head 'shining' through.
etc.
Although.. floating torsos might get a bit disturbing...

I like this idea. I was trying to work on my first attachment-based AV yesterday, and my biggest problem is the underlying AV kept leaking through. My current plan is to add several more prims to try to cover up all the extra spots, but I kept thinking all along, it would be great if I could just make my original body parts invisible.

This has been touched upon a number of times before in this forum. A lot of people want this. It would allow a huge number of interesting avatars.
A simpler solution that might work would be if we could set an avatar's skin colour to 100% transparent, then add back the parts we want with skin tatoos.
Of course, this would allow people to create invisible avatars, and that would probably be bad.

you'd still be a floating green name wouldn't you? invisible people wouldn't be able to anonymously make mischief. besides people would want to be at least a little bit visible. invisible people don't get appearance ratings.

I like this idea.
I also like the idea of being invisible, although this could cause some chaos since not everyone has names above avatars turned on. Maybe have it so if someone puts all their body parts on transparent the body isn't fully transparent, kinda like how objects work.

From: someone Originally posted by Kissmi Kuroda you'd still be a floating green name wouldn't you? invisible people wouldn't be able to anonymously make mischief. I keep names off. I think it adds to the already high level of realism SL has. I like to recognize people by how they look. Because of this I often notice little changes people make in their phsyical appearance that often go unnoticed. So...If i don't say hi immediately, its because i don't recognize you and have to get the mouse over you to get a name Briana

I've had some problems recently with AV's not appeaing at all (amongst other probs like ghosting prims) - I have to say it's anoying, and cos of this I don't like the idea of completely invisible AV's However, if one could make just arms or legs invisible, this would be great for certain costumes.

Being able to make a few body parts invisible would be a GREAT help. I have an avatar with a custom head and the real head causes all sorts of problems, poking out in odd places. At the very least, let us turn off the head and maybe limbs. Limit it if you need too, I don't care to be invisible.. camera controls are good enough for THAT. I want an invisible head... I want an invisible head...

From: someone I keep names off. I think it adds to the already high level of realism SL has. Oh yeah, the realism of a world where we teleport and fly everywhere, conjure objects out of thin air, run into invisible walls at the edge of the world, enjoy a 4 hour day with only 1 hour of night, are effectively immortal, can shapeshift at will, and communicate exclusively through written messages. If it weren't for being able to turn off names I'd think this place was weird.
