Would it be feasable to impliment an option in the menus along the lines of "Treat as Other"... For testing scripts and vendors and such out? Right now it can sometimes be a horrible pain to keep transfering stuff back and forth with impatient friends who are beign more tollerant than they need to be already to get something working right when you are having problems.

Probably the easiest way to do this currently is to just create an alt. Basically for 9.95 (or for free if you go eval) you get a lifetime tester. I've been considering doing this myself, as testers are very hard to come by. I'm not a fan of alts at all though.

When the name Lumiere came available as a SL LAST name, I couldn't resist it and made an alt called Noir Lumiere. I did this partly to test with, and...um...partly to keep anyone else from getting that name!

It's great to be able to test things on my second computer (the full 15 minutes it usually has before it crashes under SL) to check out attachments from another player's point of view, to see how my vehicle really looks in flight and many other purposes.

You'll probably never see Noir Lumiere, but he/she/it will be online...perhaps fifteen minutes at a time...possibly every week or two.

This brings another thing up...multiple instances of SL on one machine. It can be done pretty straightforwardly, a la EQWindow, withough linden help, and it is in no way altering the software...but it would be nice if they'd just let you do it (as SOE eventually did).

newview.exe -multiple

Though that'd probably be slightly problematic as it'd likely get in trouble for using the same cache files etc. Probably easiest way to get around that is (Win XP) creating another user and using runas to run the second newview in that context. Go try :)

I wouldn't mind seeing this, currently the closest we have is More > -> Buy or whatever.

Would be nice for testing.
