I know this has been thrown around alot (first time reading this forum in months btw)... just curious if anything else has popped up in reguard to this topic.

I don't know if this can be done, if it's planned or if something better is planned(besides havoc 2 and bounding boxes), but here's a proposal:

Would it be possible to add non-physical attachments to physical prims to increase the complexity and appearance of physical objects? This shouldn't add any increased strain on the physics engine because the non-physical prims, while it would appear otherwise, would merely exactly follow the physical prims they're attached to. There's alot of ways it could be implemented I guess. Maybe instead of marking objects as physical give us a way to mark individual prims as physical? Might be too radical of a change but I'm sure there's other ways to do something like this. Perhaps it could tie into the sublinking feature that many people also want.

The moral of the feature is: let us make much more complex and bigger physical objects! (Even if every itty bitty piece of the object doesn't have a physical effect on it...a "wireframe" of the object is enough for physics purposes.)

My Second-Life long dream is to see REAL mecha in SL. (Well, besides custom animations.) Not the attachment type mechs, I mean the 10-20 meter tall ones you ride in. This is a step in that direction, as well as allowing much more complicated vehicles and probably other things.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

YES PLZ

Mixed physical/nonphysical prims in link sets. A checkbox like this:

[x] Never physical

on every primitive.

OOh, that might be a way to do it!

Hmm, whatever we get (with Havoc 2 and hopefully bounding boxes) I just hope it allows some very complex physical objects.

I endorse this feature/suggestion/idea!

Would be VERY cool to have.

According to Cory, this is something that the Lindens would really need Havok 2 to support.

I can see a lot of advantages to having this ability. For one, you could set enable physics on a single prim. That would use less server resources for one, in addition to being able to build more elaborate vehicles. </giddy school-girl laugh>:p

Yeah really, most physical stuff probably doesn't need anything near the complexity it currently has and one square (or whatever) prim might work fine. (I guess)

Just noticed also, when you link more than one prim you can still check the "physical" box on the non-root prims...it just doesn't stay checked or unchecked. :(

When is Havoc 2 going to be put in anyway? I'm getting sick of just talking about it. :p
