It would be nice that we can IM a resident or make payment to another resident from secondlife.com without having to log into SL in-world program.

There are many times that either SL program is not working or crashed, or that you don't want to let your boss know you are playing games, but still be able to communicate with other residents via the web.

Although there are other ways to IM another resident outside of SL, the identify of the resident is not authenticated, and may be forged. If the SL web have a feature to IM and make payments, it ensures that it is authenticated and secured.

i second that... or maybe a SecondLife Instant Messaging(SLIM) program just like AIM(aol instant messenger)... have loads of options... access group chats... multiple friend chat.... one on one chat... group notice sender... group notice reader.... money transfer... ummmm yeah stuff like that and it wouldnt matter if the person you are talking to is in world or on SLIM cause its all the same options

sounds like a good idea to me...

Thats not a bad idea actually.
The opportunity for online business would increase if there was a system for communication, financial and other various transactions, in a situation where no viewer is available.

Could even make a WAP page or a small HTML page so people can do it from their mobiles.
I just taught my Mom how to check her YahooMail from her mobile.

Yes I blame some of the programmers for bad coding, but how could you blame them for power outages.

I love Second Life, but when it breaks, don't cry, just go do something else... lol

Second Life is just that, a SECOND life, but it isn't real :).
Didn't the matrix movies teach you anything?

Out of all the announced features, we never do get the actually useful ones: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/02/16/were-developing-mysecondlifecomyour-feedback-needed/

Meanwhile you could take a look at SLeek (http://delta.slinked.net/programming/sleek/).
