Ok, some people now own one or even two entire sims. Isn't it about time we started thinking about having bigger prims, greater linking range, wider sensor scanning radius...?

I agree completely.

If I understand correctly, there are problems with physics on larger objects. Maybe after Havok 2?
There'd have to be some kind of restriction on how big attachments could be, of course. A 50m cube would NOT be something you'd want most people using, particularly as an attachment. _____________________

I love it when people put so much emphasys on the danger of physical objects, when 99% of SLers dont give a damn about them...
Besides, if its my sim, that means I can crash it as often as I want to ![]() I dont care what restrictions they put on those larger prims, but trying to make a building of RL proportions out of 10 meter cubes would eat up half the prims in the sim. Believe me, I did the math. |

I'm not saying that they shouldn't do it in private sims, I'm saying that's why they haven't done it so far.

The other problem with the size is if its crossing a sim boarder, or something like that. But I suppose if its an island sim there wouldn't be that probelm.
I'm all for upping the limits on things if its possible. _____________________

I have to agree, I think if its purely a physics/crossing borders thing by all means give them to us and disable the physics options if size exceeds 10m or goes below .01m as well.

Yep, this is needed... and disabling physics for huge objects isn't such a bad thing either. Although I can't imagine why a large physical object is such a bad thing.... complex, linked ones, sure...but one big prim?

All I want is:
a) 12 meter prims b) 64 meter linking range c) 128 meter sensor radius It's not like I'm asking for the moon here. a) I build by numbers. The number 12 has been known since ancient times for its usefulness in construction, because it can be divided by 2, 3, 4 and 6. The average noob gets 512 sq. m. of land. That isn't much to live on, so they definitely could use bigger prims that would allow them to shave some prims off of their builds. b) Lifers get 4096 sq. m. of land. That's about 64x64, so it seems like a good number for a new limit. I would settle for less though. This increase in linking range would let people easily pick up their stuff and move to another place. c) This would allow me to easily scan an entire sim with a single prim, instead of having 5 scanners passing messages between them. |

Not bad changes...
But I don't think a 64x64 plot exists anywhere. lol _____________________
