Ratings seems very unfair as they are today. Like the one where a new player can come in, socialzie a lot and be at that weeks top of great builders in SL without dropping one single prim to the ground.

1st suggestion: remove buildings rating from the persons rating window COMPLETELY! NOW! HURRY! ARGH! Only let us rate from a builds we see in the world. Of course someone will put out a cube and ask all they friends to rate it but nm that, that wont get you to the top i am sure (at least not if you also follow my #3).

2nd suggestion: credit all the scripters out there. Do the same for scripts. Let us be able to rate a cool script. The same system as for a build/item, olny let those with a script inside have the rate script option in addition to rate build.

3rd suggestion: after you have met most people in world and have aother life than just hang out in the welcomming area its getting tough to get those rates you need. What if the stipend wasnt based on how many rates you had that week, but rather how many of the total number of the active players in world have rated you positively? Ever.

1) Yes please.

2) Yes please.

3) To my understanding this is how it works currently. Used to be that weekly was 25% of the bonus but they removed that IIRC.

Did they also remove calling cards from the formula?
I was told this in the game but dont think I ever saw it in an official Linden statement or anything.

It'd be nice to have something like Dwell for scripts. That way we can just give stuff out for free and people use what they like.

This has two practical advantages: people are more likely to try your stuff even if they don't know what it is, and, if you want to try someone else's stuff you don't run the risk of shelling out money for something that doesn't do quite exactly what you were hoping for.

It also means we can provide dedicated modules for certain functionality - rather than having sell entire functioning objects - and we get paid as and when people use them.

Well, I can't tell if Calling Cards still being added into High Score. The highest users in Calling Cards are also up there in Behavior, Appearance and Building. As far as I know, it's been removed, but like you said, Eggy, I don't recall seeing an offical post on the matter.

I think building rating should stay the way it is - connected to the other 3 when you right-click on someone.

If they have a av that has been built and attached, I would rate them for building.
Most of the things I build are to attach to my AV.

ANYTHING having to do with avatars should go under APPEARANCE. That's the whole point ofi t.

BUILDING is for actual prim builds and scripts in-world only.

this whole rating business is getting silly. remove the building rating from the "rate" dialog.

Hmm, I agree with LF....again. I'm making some kind of (bad?) habit out of that.

Oh and 1+2 sound great.

I'm not sure dwell would work out for scripts, though, it seems like it'd be too easily abused. You could just make a crapload of script objects and attach them to your av, or put scripts that do nothing into attachments you sell...etc.

Maybe a special "dwell-like" system designed just for scripts would be better but I don't know what it would look like.

I completely agree about removing Building from the avatar pie menu Rate selection. The only time I rate someone on Building via that pie menu is if I am sitting there watching them build, really.

I fully agree with supporting this service or product. :)

Why don't we just make our OWN reputation system? It can be done with some clever scripting...

How about this: everyone who is a part of this reputation system donates a (manditory) certain percent of their account every week, and this money gets distributed among everyone according to rating.

I don't mind getting rid of the rating system as a whole but if we're going to have it and then separate parts how do you limit them?

If I build something, have a script in it that runs, and then decide to attach it to my av, what's the difference with that and just randomly placing it on my land and being rated for it?

Would I then be limited to the types of builds that qualify for that rating?

Yes, let's build our own reputation system. If you meet someone you like or who's a good builder, remember them. :)
