A facility for reporting spammers like ****** ******* would be nice. This person sits all day sending invites to random people and it would be nice to be able to right click the blue window and report this irritating spammer.

I recommend adding this person to your mute lists btw, I'm not sure if this will block invites from this moron, but it is worth a go. I also added her to the ban lists for all 5 of my pieces of land :)

You are not supposed to use people's names here.
Why would you not just use the Abuse Report built into the viewer?

Ever tried to right click a blue window? Perhaps you didn't read my post, other than to moan about me mentioning a spammers name.

Why would you need to right click it?

One of the top menus in the SL window has the option to file ARs in it. I'd say which, but it's escaped my mind atm and can't log in (Help, perhaps?)

From within the AR menu, you can choose the resident it's about, as well as description of the abuse, the type of abuse, and chat log/screenshot if necessary.

Exactly what I was thinking, and it's not like the OP didn't know the person's name since they tried to slander them by posting it here.

Thanks, I didn't realise this facility was available.

Yeah...amazing....especially since I have been reporting the same mainland protected routes which have been blocked for months and months and the Lindens do nothing about this...I guess now I know where their priorities lie. I think I will stop providing mainland rez-points for explorers soon, as the Lindens obviously have zero interest in this side of SL. 6500L$ a month I spend providing these, but they care more about sticking up for spammers...great.

Hmmm...perhaps I should spam the Lindens with notices about the blocked routes...but I would only get banned for abuse, knowing their backwards thinking. Makes me wonder why I do things to help people at all....

The two issues are not related. In this case you were the one breaking the rules. Did you try opening a support ticket and then doing a live chat? I've had good luck with that. A linden came right out and looked at my problem.

I find spam from groups and individuals so annoying. I have not been in SL for about 4 months and yet in my email are several invites to join many groups or add as friends. I am not member of any groups, have not shopped for months so for the life of me I can not under stand why I keep getting the offers, some are not even in my language.

OK, how about this for a feature suggestion. How about making these invites stop once you have the offending spammer on mute? I have just recieved another and again, it isn't even relevent to my gender, let alone anything else.

Yes......the 2 issues ARE related, by virtue of TOS. TOS says I can't mention the spammers name here, TOS says she shouldn't sit for hours at her computer sending invites to random people minding their own business (harassment) and TOS also says that people shouldn't block the mainland protected routes.

It's a shame that the TOS isn't fairly and equaly policed, this is the issue which recieving a warning has presented and which I expressed in the post above. Some obstructions I have been reporting since 2008! I am sorry I didn't spell this out in simpler terms.

If you getting nailed with group invites, it's most likely a bot that is doing it, the inviter bots keep track and if you not in there group will alot of times repeatedly spam you. Best way I have found is to im the bot and the owner should see it on there console and then can remove your name from it's list

A lot of those spammy pop-up invites are comming from bot accounts. someone TP's the bot to a region and the bot auto send invites to anyone in range. Like mentioned, an AR with screenshot usualy does the trick.

I had one today which turned out to be a greeter. It sent me a blue window AND IM at the same time about some prostitute service, as I passed by on the protected route minding my own business. I sent an AR about this, and while I was replying to the IM spam, telling the person what I thought of their ignorance, I saw a Linden appear and start prowling about. WOW!

At least I know now that my ARs DO actually go somewhere and get read, which leads me to conclude that ARs about blocked protected routes obviously have such a low priority that if they were a temperature, they would be single figure on the Kelvin scale.

While I can see how an AR such as the one mentioned at the start of this post should have a high priority, it frustrates me greatly to know that blocked protected route ARs are obviously just sent to the trash. Knowing that ALL of my ARs are not ignored, just these ones, makes me feel frustrated, sorry for all of the other people who travel these routes and angry that people are allowed to exist in SL showing such ignorance to the million+ other residents.

Suggestion for these Bot inviters
06-06-2009 03:29
Maybe they should add "another" function to the SL options?

A switch that allows you to disable ALL invites to group if you are already in as many as you want to be. Like you can still get sent PM's but the pop-up invite doesn't come through...

Just a thought.
