Mini Map and Green Dots

The Mini Map shows my land objects, such as a house or dock in light cyan, and the avators are shown in light green. It is sometimes difficult to see the green dots on such background color. When I am building something, or editing script, sometimes I do not see who is around me because I am zoomed in on object or have script display on entire screen, but I try to keep mini map viewable - my periscope! Yet, sometimes a person will be right next to me and I will not notice! Once, someone was standing right in front of me and didn't even say hello - what such stranger!

Maybe the colors should be changed or Preferences allow for selection of colors?

Actually it's something you can customize.

Goto your SL directory and go into the app_settings sub directory.

Find colors.ini file and add this to the very bottom:

NetMapYouOwnAboveWater 255 128 0 255
NetMapYouOwnBelowWater 192 96 0 255

Save that and then open up the colors.xml file in the same directory.

Add this in between the SETTINGS tags..

<NetMapYouOwnAboveWater value="255, 128, 0, 255" />
<NetMapYouOwnBelowWater value="192, 96, 0, 255" />

And save that. Now the backgroudnd color of the land you own on mini map will be a green color, and the cyan color avatars will show up clear as day. :) Make sure to save these two files out into another directory for safe keeping though, because the moment you have to upgrade SL, it will overwrite those files and you'll be back to square one. :)

Sorry, just entered this into my own settings and forgot I changed the background color to orange, not green. Still, cyan avatars will appear just fine on minimap. :)
