could we get a death() event? it would trigger just before the avatar was teleported home, or on if it was on an object, just before it de-rezed. it might have some parameters, the like key of the killer, or something along those lines.

possibly it would need a time limit set on its execution, such that a person couldn't put a while(true) loop in it that executed indefinately, there by becoming and undead corpse that could never be killed, but that is just a little detail :)

heh yeah i thought about that, hence the time limit, given that there is only a certain number of ways that you can kill someone.

and you can be unseated if you are on someone else's land, and then killed.

regardless, i think it makes sense to have death event, it could be really useful, not just for avatars, but also for objects. the death event could be triggered when an object is deleted, as well as when it 'dies'

I wouldn't mind having this, as long as the time delay actualy works as I too thought of doing some revenge thing as soon as I read this. Kinda like Raven's warhead in Snow Crash. :D

Nobody likes to be killed, so retribution scripted items will become the new flavor of the month.

Somebody kills you, your "retribution strike" goes off and kills them. On their death another flavor of "Eye for an Eye" goes off, but this time it catches an unsuspecting passerby who also, fearing unwarrented killing, has their own...so on and so on and so on.

Wont be long until a misplaced bullet is the catalyst for armageddon and all thats left when the particle effects die out is thousands of pairs of smoking shoes and the one scorched av who managed to out-fly the shockwave and make it to a patch of safe land.

LOL Just my doomsday proclimation...I think im going to make a soap box and a cruddy sign. :D

Ok, but I have to say, after having a few weeks to think about it... This would be REALLY handy to have, but perhaps only on prims that aren't attached.
