Auto Select touching objects

You ever have to select a bunch of prims and accidentally click off it in the middle of selecting? Gotta start all over again! Annoying, huh?

My suggestion is to have an Auto Select feature. Right now you have to select an object and hold down SHIFT to select another, and again and again until you have all objects selected. What if you hold down CTRL-SHIFT (for example) and select the 1st object, and it automatically selects all objects that are touching each other that are owned by the same person?

For example, I had to move my house the other day, and it contains many unlinked prims. I had to shift select them all to move it, and of course I missed a few. With Auto Select, I could have just selected one prim and all other prims that are touching each other would have automatically been selected. One quick and easy step!

Good idea?

er, isn't that what happens when you're in Edit mode and then highlight the whole shebang? (this can lead to selecting unwanted prims, however, so it's not always ideal for me)

Well that's my question. How do I select multiple objects at one time without having to SHIFT-SELECT each individual piece? If there's a way, then this suggestion is invalid. I just don't happen to know of a way. Please elaborate...thanks!

ah, sorry. did you try just dragging like you're selecting multiple objects in Windows? click at a point devoid of prims, then drag the cursor diagonally. You should get a yellow highlighted rectangle.

If you drag select be carful you will select any prim that you can see from your current angle, anything that you can't will not get selected.

Ahh ok. Seems like my suggestion would still be useful, since drag-selecting is not very accurate if it only selects what is visible at that angle.
