Yes, I know this has been suggested. This is a suggestion for pushing it through the pipe faster than it is currently happening. The reason? Because other Virtual Worlds have already implimented them.

Not the most impressive modeling I've ever seen, but it gets the point across. This is Novoking, a SL competitor. It is rediculously hard to get into, partially because it is in China and the DL of the client is stupid slow.

What this means, is that once this virtual world becomes easily accessible by the international public, SL is going to loose a large number of developers and residents. Frankly, its just going to look better than SL. By a long shot. No offense to the great developers we have in SL. The current tools just wont ever allow us to generate items like these without going through a maze of flaming hoops while being coated in gasoline.

Just tossing it out there. In my opinion, next to grid stability and asset server issues I believe this to be the top priority item.

yea the standard issue argument is the size of the files, but as seen you can do this in low poly (and enforce it on upload) and have more detail while weighing in at the same data load as a few hundered cubes

Not only does Novoking allow importing builds from Maya and 3D Studio Max, Novoking also let's people upload images in their forums.

Last night I was in Novoking and there were some avatars doing a complex dance - only there were no green dots on the map to indicate that they were manned avatars. I think they were human figures doing an animation without anyone operating them. NPCs, I guess. They might have been used created.

Novoking has land available during it's testing period that you can import your builds in.
